If you have a useful website, posting ads on free classified websites is one of  the best ways to promote your website. Though there are thousands of  classified websites, many of  them have little traffic, are difficult to use and place many limitations on postings.

Some of the largest classified websites to get traffic to your website are

1. Craigslist - the largest classifieds website worldwide. Easy to use and loads easily. If you post in a relevant category, you can get targeted traffic. Ad posting is free in most cities of  the world, but posting the same ad repeatedly may be blocked

2. Kijiji.com - from Ebay. Takes a longer time to load compared to Craigslist. Does not allow links to be posted in the advertisement. You can create an account or verify each ad individually. Local versions of Kijiji in Canada and India rank well in search engines.

3. Gumtree - for UK classifieds. Fairly simple to use, but has limited number of categories

4. Cracker - Australian classified website, registration required for posting advertisments.

5. Expatriates -  for expatriates. Has sections on housing, jobs, childcare, community, personals, buy/sell,  learning, services, business partners. Posting an ad is a 3 step process, no verification code has to be entered. The ads are manually reviewed and posted to the website twice a day.
